An Answer to Everyone Who Asks

“But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience..." 1 Peter 3:15, 16

Every believer in Christ Jesus should be thoroughly familiar with the fundamental teachings of the scriptures, and able to share their understanding and experiences with others clearly and simply by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

The believer must know the teachings of God’s Word. God has provided for every need we have. Our faith and appropriation of these provisions are based on the promises and provisions of His grace. It is written: “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  Romans 10:17

What we believe is more important than we realize. Our spiritual existence depends upon what we believe: “Search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;” John 5:39. “But these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:31

We are alive spiritually because we have accepted the Christ of the Scriptures. It is also true that our spiritual and physical health depends upon what we have believed and appropriated of the teachings of the Scriptures. Within the confines of the Holy Bible are promises and provisions which few believers have fully explored or appropriated. This truth is written by the Apostle Peter: “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.” 2 Peter 1:2-4

In the following study, we have briefly and simply outlined the Scriptural truths and principles which the Holy Spirit has emphasized in our services. Each truth has become a reality and a rich experience in our lives.

We are asked frequently, “What do you believe in this church?” There is no special secret. If we should summarize our hopes and faith in serving God, it would be found in the Scripture: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27.

The Scriptures in the following outline should be prayerfully and carefully studied and memorized, so that when the need arises, you will be “ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you…” 1 Peter 3:15.
